New Alabama Poll: Governor’s Race a Toss-Up as Tuberville Edges Jones 48%-45%
A new statewide survey of likely Alabama voters, conducted by Blueprint Polling, finds the race for governor within the margin of error, with Republican Tommy Tuberville at 48% and Democrat Doug Jones at 45%. Key findings:
The governor’s race is a genuine toss-up. Tuberville leads Jones 48%-45% accounting for leaners, with 7% completely undecided. Before leaners are allocated, the race stands at 45%-44%. The 3-point margin is within the survey’s margin of error. Jones leads among voters under 50 (64%-27%), independents (50%-14%) and women (48%-45%). Tuberville leads among voters 50 and older (62%-32%) and men (52%-41%).
Jones is outperforming his party by roughly 5 points. Republican Barry Moore leads Democrat Everett Wess 48%-40% in the U.S. Senate race, and Republicans lead the generic congressional ballot 48%-40%. Jones runs about 5 points ahead of both Democratic benchmarks, drawing 12% of self-identified Republicans and 11% of 2024 Trump voters.
Undecided voters supported Trump 53%-13%, but 62% now disapprove of the President’s job performance against 24% who approve. They also have an unfavorable view of both Tuberville (18% favorable, 44% unfavorable) and Jones (20% favorable, 38% unfavorable). They lean Republican in the Senate race (25%-15%), but most are undecided across the board.
