Federal Elections

Social Pressure Mailers in two US Senate Races

We mailed to drop off African American voters in GA and MS with different versions of social pressure GOTV messages to determine the most cost effective turnout tool. Our mail was developed based on a number of academic field research efforts: It was unadorned and intentionally plain in order to stand out and drive home the social pressure theme.

GOTV Calls in two US Senate Races

We called African American voters in GA and MS with a new type of message: Followup robocalls with messages that individuals had recorded to themselves about why it was important to vote. We built on the academic research about the efficacy of robocalls as a GOTV tool and launched this multiwave program that allowed for someone who promised to vote in mid October to record a message to be played back to them on Election Eve.

Statewide Ballot Measures

Interactive GOTV Calls for FL Constitutional Amendment

We used three important lessons from social science research to grow turnout using a “press 1” robocall: A high profile spokesperson thanking voters for their previous participation; asking them to indicate how many family members and friends they would take to the polls; and concluding with a reminder that we might be calling back post election to confirm their actions.

Using 501(c)(3) Funds to Grow Turnout on a NJ Constitutional Amendment

We produced an interactive, automated call featuring a recognized conservationist in the state explaining the issue, reminding voters of the lengthy ballot, and asking the audience for a commitment to vote on the entire ballot, including the public questions at the end. We walked the fine line between “advocacy” and “education” to reduced the typical ballot drop off.

State Legislative Elections

Mobilizing Voters to Call Out the Opposition in an AL State Senate Race (2 Awards)

We placed our live calls In the midst of an opponent’s over-the-top ads campaign, identifying voters who were angered by the attacks on our client and asking them to record a statement about their distaste for the ads. We recorded hundreds of these spontaneous messages, sorted for the best of them, and then patched them through to the campaign headquarters on a rolling basis until the opponent pulled the offensive ads.

Legislative Advocacy

Recruiting Activists for Marriage Equality in MS

We followed up a media campaign on LGBT Equality issues with a telephone town hall to potential supporters, exploring a range of potential legislative initiatives and using the interactive poll feature to identify activists for the next round of advocacy.

Constituent Pressure to Push for Healthcare Funding in AR

We timed our patch through calls with the legislative deadline calendar and customized messages by partisanship and region to apply constant reminders to state lawmakers about the necessity of funding this health care program.

Generating Testimonials for LGBT Non-discrimination in PA

We followed up a media campaign on LGBT Equality issues with a telephone town hall to potential supporters, exploring a range of potential legislative initiatives and using the interactive poll feature to identify activists for the next round of advocacy.

Fighting to Reform Medicaid in a Midwestern State

We built upon our existing program with a surge of patch through calls during telephone town halls across 23 targeted districts, transferring nearly 500 people to their respective state senate offices during the 90 minute telephone town halls.
